In light of the strange and uncertain circumstances we are facing due to COVID-19, many students will be struggling to make the transition to online learning and get academic help from their homes. This is especially true for those whose families may not be able to afford it during stressful times like these, and those whose caregivers are working overtime at the front-lines of this pandemic.
For this reason, we have committed to building a community of volunteers to help us with this initiative, and we hope that this will be a valuable resource for students everywhere. Since our program launch on March 21st 2020, we are more than grateful to have built a community of over 1,000 volunteer tutors from all across Canada and around the world. This number continues to grow. |
Number of volunteer tutors: 1400+
Our tutors come from institutions all over the world, including Stanford University, Imperial College London, The Julliard School, The University of Oxford, and more! |
Number of registered students: 820+
Our students are receiving from free tutoring from coast to coast across Canada, from Vancouver to Steinbach to Kenora to Halifax! |
All volunteers must provide us with a copy of their Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS), or evidence and a reference that can verify that they have worked or volunteered with vulnerable persons within the past 12 months, given the difficulties of obtaining a VSS at this time. Hours are flexible for tutors.
Once signed up, we will work to match students with suitable tutors accordingly. Guidelines will be given to tutors, a tutoring agreement contract will be drawn, and our team will be regularly checking in throughout to follow-up. Feedback forms will also be given to both students and their tutors to ensure that sessions run smoothly and both parties are satisfied with progress. |
